Irina Werning es una fotógrafa argentina que vive en Londres y que nunca había prestado atención ni fotografiado perros. Pero un buen día, en 2008, su amiga le pidió que se hiciera cargo de su casa y sus tres perros mientras se iba durante un mes de vacaciones y ahí empezó todo. Chini es el crestado chino de su amiga, un día decidió llevarla al estudio de un amigo y empezó a hacerle fotos y
así, al día siguiente, comenzó el Proyecto Chini. Durante un año la fotografió en pequeños sets que construyó para ella y donde podía actuar como si fuera un humano. La ha fotografiado como viuda, estrella del rock, turista, reina de la belleza, posando...

Irina Werning is an Argentine photographer who lives in London and  never had paid attention or shooting dogs. But in 2008, her friend asked her to look after their house and three dogs for a month while on holidays. Chini is her friend´s Chinese Crested dog and one day she took Chini into a friend´s studio and took some pictures of her and the following day, Chini Proyect began. For a year, she photographed her inside the little sets built for her where she was free to act our little human ways. Chine has been photographed as a widow, rock star, beauty queen, dressmaker...

Febrero, el miedo de los galgos. February, the fear of the greyhounds.

 ‘Febrero, el miedo de los galgos’ es el primer largo documental de la productora Waggingtale Films . El objetivo de este film, es el de comunicar la pésima situación de maltrato y abandono del galgo en nuestro país. Pretenden sensibilizar a la sociedad, que se sepa qué les ocurre a los galgos durante y después la temporada de caza. Los galgos sufren una vida de duros entrenamientos (atados a vehículos de motor), maltrato y explotación. La cría y abandono indiscriminado de galgos debe llegar a su fin.

Este film ha sido íntegramente financiado, filmado y editado por Irene Blánquez. La producción y promoción corre a cargo de ‘Waggingtale Films’ de forma independiente, sin ataduras de interés comercial o político. 'SOS Galgos' colabora en su distribución por festivales de todo el mundo y promoción a través de distintos eventos

Sinopsis

Mila, una galga abandonada con mucho miedo a las personas, es rescatada y trasladada a Barcelona por la ONG SOS Galgos, a la espera de una operación importante tras ser atropellada en Arahal, un pueblo de Sevilla.

El documental FEBRERO plasma la realidad del galgo en España. La caza de la liebre, práctica común en zonas rurales, expone al galgo a una vida de maltrato y crueles entrenamientos. La temporada de caza acaba en febrero y el número de galgos abandonados en esta época del año se dispara. Al igual que Mila, la mayoría de ellos no supera los tres años de edad. La impunidad del galguero sobresale más que nunca en febrero

'February, fear of the greyhounds' is the first long documentary of the production company Waggingtale Films. The aim of this film is to communicate the terrible situation of abuse and neglect of the Greyhound in our country. They aim to sensitize society, that is to know what happens to the dogs during and after the hunting season. The greyhounds suffer a life of hard training (attached to motor vehicles), abuse and exploitation. Breeding and indiscriminate abandonment of galgos must come to an end.

Synopsis

Mila, a greyhound abandoned and afraid of people, is rescued and transferred to Barcelona by the NGO SOS Galgos, waiting for an important operation after being run over in Arahal, a town in Seville.

The documentary February reflects the reality of the Greyhound in Spain. The hunting of the Hare, common practice in rural areas, exposes the Greyhound to a life of abuse and cruel training. The hunting season ends in February and the number of dogs abandoned at this time of the year is triggered. As Mila, most of them are no more than three years of age. The impunity of the hunter protrudes more than ever in February.

12 consejos para bañar una cobaya. 12 tips to bath a Guinea pig

Hoy hemos tenido un cliente muy especial, se trata de Brownie, una preciosa cobaya negra que ha venido a darse un baño.

Las cobayas son unos animales muy sensibles al frío y enseguida se resfrían y se ponen malitas. Para evitar problemas de salud hay que intentar conseguir que el baño sea lo más seguro para ellas y lo menos traumático posible, por lo que hay que bañarlas sólo cuando sea necesario, además evitaremos que el pelo pierda su protección natural. Aunque parezca exagerado, un mal baño puede matar a tu cobaya.

1. Debemos procurar mantenerla limpia el mayor tiempo posible, cambiando a menudo su jaula y aseándola regularmente con una toalla o trapo húmedo.

2. El sitio elegido para bañarla deberá estar a una temperatura cálida y sin corrientes de aire (puertas cerradas)

3. Elegir un recipiente pequeño y poner sobre el fondo una toalla para que pueda agarrarse y se sienta segura.

4. Llenar el recipiente con agua caliente a una temperatura de unos 37°, es decir lo suficientemente caliente pero que nunca queme (como la que utilizaríamos para bañar a un bebé).

5. Diluir una pequeña cantidad de jabón neutro (especial para cobayas, gatos o roedores) en el agua. No utilizar jabones con perfume o champús muy fuertes ya que podrían irritarle la piel. No utilizar perfumes porque les desagradan mucho los olores fuertes.

6. No les suele gustar mucho el agua por lo que hay que sumergir a la cobaya sólo hasta la mitad de su cuerpo y nunca la cabeza.

7. No les debe entrar agua en los oídos porque podríamos provocarle una otitis. Procurar no mojar los ojos. Si no estamos seguros de conseguirlo es preferible no lavar la cabeza.

8. Poner una muy pequeña cantidad de jabón en la mano y frotarla suavemente junto con el agua del recipiente.

9. Enjuagarla para que no queden restos de jabón procurando no darle directamente con el chorro de agua, bien cambiando el agua del recipiente o pasándola a otro recipiente con agua limpia.

10. Secarla con una toalla suavemente y a fondo para retirar toda la humedad posible.

11. Si el animal lo permite y no se asusta demasiado podemos secarla con secador. El secador es muy traumático por el ruido que hace, hay que ponerlo a la mínima velocidad y esperar a que se acostumbre al ruido durante unos segundos para después acercárselo poco a poco e intentar no darle con el chorro de aire directamente en la cara.

12. Secar completamente antes de devolverla a su jaula para que se relaje. Ahora es el momento de ofrecerle una golosina como premio y que le quede un buen recuerdo.

Today we had a very special customer, he´s Brownie, a beautifulblack Guinea pig who has come to take a bath.

Guinea Pigs are very sensitive animals to cold and can get colds and become ill. To avoid health problems try to get the bath the safest and the least traumatic possible for them, so you have to bath them only when necessary, we will also avoid that the hair loses its natural protection. Although it seems exaggerated, a bad bathroom can kill your Guinea pig.

1 We must try to keep it clean as long as possible, often changing his cage and cleaning it regularly with a towel or damp cloth.

2. The chosen place to bath must be at a warm temperature and without draughts (behind closed doors)

3 Choose a small container and put a towel on the background so that it can grasp and feel safe.

4. Fill the container with hot water at a temperature of about 37 °, hot enough but never burn (as that used to bathe a baby).

5. Dilute a small amount of mild soap (special for Guinea pigs, cats or rodents) in the water. Do not use soaps with strong perfume or shampoos that may irritate its skin. Do not use perfumes because they dislike strong odors.

6. They don´t like water much so the Guinea pig must be inmersed only up to half of their body and never the head.

7. The ears mustn´t be inmmersed in the water because we can cause an otitis.  If we are not sure of getting it is preferable to not wash the head.

8. Put a very small amount of soap on your hand and rub it gently along with the water from the container.

9.  Rinse it so there are no soap residue trying not to give it directly with the water, changing the water from the container or passing it to another container with clean water.

10.  Dry with a towel gently and thoroughly to remove all the moisture possible.

11.  If the animal allows it and is not too frightened we blow-dry it. The dryer is very traumatic because of the noise, we should put it at the minimum speed and wait for it to become accustomed to the noise for a few seconds then approach it slowly and try not to give with the air stream directly in the face.

12. Dry completely before returning it to his cage to relax. Now it´s the time to offer a treat as a prize and that fits a good memory.

La verdad es que la tienda está ya muy avanzada pero requiere tanto trabajo que no tengo ni un minuto libre, ni siquiera para poner las fotos del día a día. Hemos elegido para las paredes la combinación blanco-negro porque creemos que resulta muy elegante. Mañana intentaré poner más fotos.

The truth is that the shop is almost ready very advanced but needs so much work that I haven't a free minute, not at least to put the photos of day. We have chosen for the walls the combination white-black because we believe that it turns out to be very elegant. Tomorrow I will try to put more photos.
