9 consejos para bañar a un gato. 9 tips to bath a cat

De todos es conocido que los gatos suelen odiar el agua y les produce muchísimo estrés por lo que la hora del baño se suele convertir en un verdadero drama, con peleas, arañazos, maullidos, gritos... En fin que no resulta un plan muy apetecible. Pero si no hay más remedio que hacerlo mejor tener en cuenta unos cuantos detalles para que ese momento sea un poco más fácil y agradable.

1. Tener preparado todo el material que vamos a necesitar. Un champú especial para gatos que no estropee su manto lipídico y le haga daño a la piel, suavizante si tiene el pelo largo, una toalla limpia y un cortauñas. Se puede utilizar una toalla en el fondo del lugar donde vamos a lavarle para que pueda sujetarse y no se resbale.

2. Procurar un ambiente tranquilo y agradable, sin ruidos fuertes que puedan alterarle. No gritarle bajo ningún concepto. Si la cosa se pone fea es preferible parar o retrasarlo.

3. Procurar un lugar cómodo para bañarlo y donde podamos sujetarle fácilmente. Puede ser la bañera, el lavabo, el fregadero o incluso un barreño. Lo importante es que estemos cómodos y podamos manejarle con seguridad.
4. Si el carácter de gato es difícil es preferible bañarlo entre dos personas. Uno lo sujetará firmemente del cuello y el otro procederá a frotarle con suavidad y rápidamente.
5. La temperatura del agua debe ser templada y se debe proceder al mojado, enjabonado y aclarado de forma rápida pero suave. El lavado de la cabeza es lo que menos le gusta por lo que debe ser extremadamente rápido y es importante que no entre agua en el oído.

6. Otra opción para gatos dificiles es poner en la bañera dos recipientes con agua templada, echar un chorrito de jabón en uno de ellos y el otro solo con agua. Sumergirle rápidamente en el agua con jabón e inmediatamente en el otro para aclararle.
