La Policía Local de Palma creará una brigada animalista que se dedicará a atender y tramitar todas las denuncias relacionadas con los malos tratos a animales.
La petición parte de las propias asociaciones, que reclamaron una unidad específica para casos de perros atados a la intemperie, canes abandonados o que no llevan chip, animales que permanecen en el coche y otras denuncias relacionadas con mascotas. El departamento municipal de Sanidad es el encargado de tramitar los expedientes, aunque en muchos de ellos también intervienen los agentes policiales.
Además, el Ayuntamiento y la Plataforma Balear en Defensa de los Animales (Baldea) presentaron ayer una campaña de sensibilización contra el abandono de animales. Un bus de la línea 10 de la EMT lucirá dos vinilos publicitarios en los que instarán a la responsabilidad de los dueños de mascotas. Se pretende que no se regalen animales por Navidad, porque un ser vivo no es un capricho de un día.
